Pickin' and Farmin'

Saturday was a busy day for us. We woke up early and went to the Red Truck Bakery in Warrenton. Then it was off to do some apple picking at Stribling Orchard. Ed and I picked while Tate surveyed the apples we picked.

He even tried to test out a few, but was unable to get a solid bite.

While we were at the orchard, we decided to introduce Tate to the pumpkins.

On a side note: This is Tate's new look.

After we worked a little at the orchard, we decided to head to the various farms in Gainesville for Farm Day. Tate loved the alpaca farm, Double O Good Alpacas. The alpacas were very responsive to Tate. He would point and let out little screams. The alpacas would make snorting noises and run over to us for a little attention.

After the alpacas, we visited another farm, Smith Family Farm, that had cows, sheep, pigs, and a pony. Tate loved watching the pigs, but I couldn't stick around for long. The pigs smelled awful!

Tate also loved petting the pony.

To top our day off, we were able to get a cute picture of Tate in a tractor.

By the end of the day, Tate was tuckered out.

Reenacting and Playing with Tate

This past Saturday, Manassas Battlefield had reenactments during the weekend. Unfortunately, we missed the Infantry portion, but we were able to watch the Cavalry and Artillery. Tate loved watching the Cavalry. It was very exciting for Tate to watch the horses.

At first, Tate was fine with the shooting, but once they reloaded and shot again, it upset Tate.

After the show, the Cavalry brought their horses over and allowed the viewers to pet the horses and ask questions. Tate even got into the action. He loved the horses.

Before this picture was taken, Tate decided that it would be exciting to stick his finger up the horse's nose and then proceed to lick his finger (of course).

Once the Cavalry concluded, the Artillery started. For some reason, the rifle shooting made Tate cry, but the canon firing was just fine with him. How strange...

Once the festivities were over, Tate was parched.

On another note: Tate loves to play with Ed. In the following video, Tate thought that Ed was being hilarious!
