A Relaxing Family Weekend and Some New Food

This past weekend, Ed, Tate, and I went on a bike ride through the Third Winchester Battelfield. The bike path was great. It was mostly gravel, but it had a place where we could stop and watch the water pass by.

As you can see, Tate enjoys sitting in his stroller, eating his rattle as Ed does all of the work...

Lately, we've been introducing Tate to the feel of grass. At first he wasn't too sure about it...

But he got used to it...

He's still not too sure about it, but I'm sure that in time, he'll love being outside playing in the grass.

We have also introduced Tate to trout. He really likes it! He even licked the bowl in the end. It was so funny!

On a non-Tate note, Ed and I have started a small box garden. I've already planted quite a few items and have a few more to add. I know that the box doesn't look that big, but it really does hold a lot of produce and I have a couple more containers on our upper deck area. Hopefully, we'll get some good produce out of all of it.

Cherry Blossoms & Easter

Last weekend, Ed and I decided to bike to D.C. to see the cherry blossoms. Even though I’ve lived in D.C. before, I never made it to the Mall to see the cherry blossoms. I must say that I wasn’t disappointed. The cherry blossoms were beautiful! The bike ride was a lot of fun even though we initially had to navigate through the crowd of people making it to the festival. I think that Tate liked looking at everything while we rode our bikes…

Today, we introduced Tate to everything bird related. Earlier in the morning, we introduced Tate to our organic brown eggs, which we get from our local nursery.

Then he observed and ate the egg yolk that I boiled for him.

Finally, we took him to the plant nursery where they have little chicks.

Even though Tate is too small to find an Easter basket, his Mutti left a small Easter package for him to open. Ed and Tate opened it together – he loves opening gifts!

Then Ed read the book to him. I think that he really enjoyed it!

Even though he had a wonderful day, we hit a small snag. It seems as though Tate has a food allergy – Boo! We suspected that he may have a food allergy and we have been slowly eliminating foods. So…that being said, he’s either allergic to corn or egg yolks. I have to wait a couple of days until the rash goes away to try either the corn or the egg yolk again. Wish us luck!

Okay…These past two weeks, our computer has been on the fritz (for the remaining weeks of vacant postings, I have no excuse). At first, we thought that it was caused by the workers installing FiOS, but thanks to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, we found out that our McAfee was out of whack. The good news is that we don’t have a virus – hooray!


So…onto our new blog posting…


We’ve been busy with Tate (of course). This past week, he had his 9 month check-up. His stats are as follows:


Weight: 17 pounds 12 ounces (10th percentile)
Height: 29 inches (75th percentile)


Ed’s still pleased with the height, but we still don’t understand the weight. He keeps dropping in percentile and we aren’t sure why this happening. Pretty soon he’s going to be in the negative percentile.


Now the fun part of the posting begins...


The other day while Ed was playing with Tate, he fell into the base of his Lego box and he thought that it was hilarious.

Also, Tate likes to torment the cats. It seems as though Tiger enjoys spending time with Tate…

While Whiskers wishes for there to be a barrier between the two…

I have also started making Tate’s food. The other day, I had Tate supervise my cooking. He also decided that he wanted to try a little of the food (he’s eating a parsnip in the picture below).

Not only is Tate getting new (and better food – my opinion, of course), but he also has a new chair (compliments of my parents).

Last, but not least. We spent a little time with my parents, my sister, and her children. A few weekends ago, we decided to go to the Maple Festival in Virginia. I know what some of you might think – “Maple syrup in Virginia?” – It seems a little strange, but, yes, there is maple syrup in Virginia! We had a great time and Tate took it all in.
