Gone Fishin'

Yes, I'm still blogging about our April happenings. Don't worry...I'm almost done. Then the May blogging will commence.

Ed and I took Tate fishing on Fort Polk. Fort Polk has a stocked pond in which only little ones can fish with adult supervision. It was a lot of fun!

They had to change their spot. No fish were biting at the old spot. They also had to change their bait. For some reason, the fish had an appetite for hot dogs. Haha!

Ultimately, they caught two fish. Not too bad for Tate's first fishing trip.

The Amazing Circus!

In April we took Tate to the circus in Lafayette, Louisiana. Needless to say, Tate loved it! Even though the show was two hours (originally I thought that it was only going to be about an hour), it maintained his attention pretty well.

He loved watching the elephants, lions, and cats (yes, they had the typical house cat in the show). His attention waned while the acrobats were doing their thing. I guess that he'll like watching them when he's older.

Colt, on the other hand, wasn't too excited about the show.

During the show, we introduced Tate to popcorn. He loved it as well. We took the box home with us and he ate more of it the next day.

I, being the amateur photographer, was unable to take a lot of good pictures of the show. Ed, on the other hand is the professional photographer, but had his hands full with Tate. So...here are a couple of pictures from the show taken by Ed when Tate wasn't sitting his lap.

Being Eaten by a Tiger

Okay, Okay. I haven't blogged much. I really need to catch up. This past April was really busy. Colt decided that it would be in my best interest to stay up during the night and Tate decided that I should stay up during the day. So...with having two little ones, I haven't been able to do much besides take care of them.

Currently, they both are doing the cutest things. Tate is talking more and more. I love it when he says "nite, nite" whenever he has to go to bed or take a nap. He also likes to say "happy". Of course saying "happy" doesn't seem like much, but it's how he says it that's so cute. Colt, on the other hand, is smiling and giggling more. He has several tickle spots and loves attention (who doesn't?).

Okay -- so onto our trips during the month of April. During Ed's first long weekend, we decided to go to Baton Rouge. Everyone told us that we had to go see Mike, the LSU tiger. At first, we stopped on campus to have a little lunch.

Then we introduced Colt to the tiger. I wonder what he's thinking...

Tate also enjoyed taking pictures by Mike's statue.

Here's Mike in the flesh or maybe I should say "in the heat". It was pretty hot that day. He definitely liked being in the shade and sleeping.

Then we went to a museum where Tate loved playing. I, on the other hand, had to breastfeed Colt while Tate and Ed played. How is that I miss all of the fun stuff?

The next day, we went to the local farmer's market. I picked up a bunch of products. The strawberries were especially delicious. We ate a whole flat of strawberries in one week. Yummy!

Oh, and our trip wouldn't be complete without a fort sighting. And yes, this used to be an old fort.

We also toured the Old State Capitol. It was beautiful! I can't believe that they replaced a beautiful stained glass building with a concrete monstrosity. I guess someone needed a job.

Ed loves this picture of Tate. In case any of you didn't know it, Tate loves being independent. He doesn't have a problem running away from us so that he can do his own thing.
