Cats' New Work-Out Program

This past weekend, Ed and I traveled to Northern Virginia to search for a new home in preparation for our upcoming relocation in a few months. After lots of time on the internet and a few days in Virginia, we decided to purchase a three-floor townhome. We were fortunate because the real estate market is in a slump; so, we were able to purchase a new home at a relatively low price (I'm saying "low" because the Northern Virginia market is high in comparison to other markets).

The townhouse is really nice. It has three bedrooms, two full baths, and two half baths. That being said...we've decided to put our cats' litter box on the first floor. That means that the cats will have to constantly travel up and down the stairs from either the second or third floor to use it. We're hoping that by doing this it'll give our cats the work-out that they desperately need (Ed tries to play with them for about 15 minutes a day and by the end of the play period both cats are usually out of breath and ready to sleep, again).

I guess the only problem with having so many stairs is that once the baby starts crawling we'll have to put up tons of gates at the top of the stairs so that the little one doesn't take a tumble down the stairs. Hopefully the baby will take on my personality and behave; unlike Ed's -- haha! It's my understanding that when he was little, Ed was a great escape artist. Fortunately, we have a couple of months before we have to plan our strategy.

Sounds great,Kellie!

We have three floors in our house, too (including the basement, where we have our office and playroom.)Better than our previous 4 story home. Our cat's litter box on the bottom floor hasn't helped him lose any weight, unfortunately.

You'll have to put up pictures, eventually.

Oh, to own our very own place! What a dream!!! Maybe when we get to our next three year assignment, after ILE.

That's funny that Ed spends quality time with the cats. Tell him not to forget about the cats when the baby comes!

Someone once told me that I would forget all about my dog when the baby came. I was insulted and hurt by the comment. He was my baby. We took him everywhere, even to hotels, daily doggie "playgroups," etc.

I'm ashamed to say that he's now fat and neglected and I'm still upset it cost us nearly $2,000 to get him here to Portugal. It's tempting to leave him behind when we PCS. However, the girls would be devestated.
