Well...we made it! We're with Ed in Louisiana. We've been here a while, but it's taken us a while to settle in. We had to buy several items for the apartment, which takes FOREVER when you have two small children. We usually only head out for a couple of hours at a time because Tate still naps and we still need to build in fun time for Tate as well. As for Colt, he doesn't require much just milk and a place to sleep.
As for living in Louisiana, it hasn't been bad. The weather is nice and the people are nice. The one thing that I can say is that things move at a slower pace around here. It can take FOREVER to get through a stop light because people seem to have a difficult time accelerating. I mean really...who goes 45 or 50 when the speed zone is 55 mph??? If you were in Washington, DC even when one goes 5 or 10 over the speed limit, you still feel as if you're standing still.
Last Saturday was the first weekend we were able to actually get out of town. We decided to go to Natchez, Mississippi. We had a nice time and the day was warm and sunny.
When we initially arrived, I had to nurse Colt (this will be a reoccurring theme). So, Ed decided to take Tate for a walk next to the Mississippi River. Tate loved looking at the boats. Oh and yes, Tate loves to point at just about everything as you will notice throughout this blog.

After I nursed Colt, we were on our way. Our next stop was at Longwood Plantation. We decided to visit Longwood because it didn't look like the traditional plantation home. The home was beautiful on the outside. Unfortunately, the original owner was never able to complete it because of the Civil War.

The peculiar thing about the cannon is that it was part of a church.

Then we were off to look around downtown Natchez and have lunch.
Of course, a trip outside of the home/apartment would never be complete without some sort of war paraphernalia sighting. Of course, Ed had to stop when he saw a cannon. So...while I nursed Colt (once again), Ed and Tate went to look at a cannon.

Great pics. And, ahhh, the nursing days. At least you aren't packing bottles and formula powder. That always seemed like such a pain.
Of course you had to see something military. How long will you be in LA?
I'll be here for a little over a month more b/c Ed has to go to JRTC for about 2 months. Then we may be back during the fall at some point before Ed goes to Afghanistan.
I was reading your post thinking, "where's the picture of the fort?" I was not disappointed to see a cannon--hahaha! I'm with Natalie--traveling with no other baby food than your own body is SOOOOOO convenient! I wish I could still do it, but I'm down to 2 feedings. Eventually Nathan will be weaned....
