Houdini’s New Trick

I know that in my previous blogs, I’ve talked about Ed and I swaddling Tate in order for him to be soothed to sleep. It seems to work well….

But now, he’s able to escape his confinement. Ed and I say that Tate “Houdinis” himself out of the swaddle. He’s quite good at it. I’ve actually watched him move his shoulders in such a way to let at least one arm escape if not two. Below are two pictures of Tate releasing himself from his swaddle…

Yes, I know that some of you with a trained eye can see that the swaddle isn’t that great (I’m not the greatest at swaddling), but when Ed swaddles him at night (and he’s able to make it really tight, but not tight enough to cause Tate breathing difficulty) the outcome is the same in the morning. Thus, Houdini has been re-incarnated as David Tate Matthaidess. I guess that the name suits Tate well considering that Houdini is a fellow Wisconsinite (Yes, I know that Houdini was born in Budapest, Hungary, but he lived in Appleton, Wisconsin during his early years). Just in case some of you didn't know -- Ed's family is from Wisconsin.

I’ll leave you with a couple more pictures of Tate taken within these past few days…

Here's also a short video of Tate starting/trying to talk (Ed and I started the camera a little late, but he's still talking up a storm and trying to communicate -- He started getting tired in the end)...

I'm glad to see swaddling helps Tate so much! Too bad he worms himself out! So cute. I love the video b/c I love that stage when they are trying to "talk" for the first time. Their whole body gets right into it! Ahh, I miss it.
